
Kenneth Cornetta, MD, Director
Professor of Clinical Medical & Molecular Genetics
Kenneth Cornetta M.D. is a Professor of Clinical Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine. Professor Cornetta received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the State University of New York at Albany and a M.D. from Albany Medical College. He completed an internal medicine residency at Indiana University and a Hematology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. From 1986 until 1989 he was a NRSA fellow at the NHLBI in Bethesda, Maryland, participating in the first approved clinical trial of human gene transfer where he developed the first RCR testing utilized in support of clinical gene therapy. Professor Cornetta joined the faculty of Indiana University in 1991. He has published over 150 medical publications in the area of gene therapy and bone marrow transplantation. Professor Cornetta has served on a variety of gene therapy editorial boards and served as the President of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy in 2010. He currently holds contract with the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and the National Cancer Institute related to testing services for NIH funded investigators.
